The President of the Republic of Liberia supports the #StandUp4HumanRights campaign

As part of the #StandUp4HumanRights campaign in Liberia, the Country Representative of the Office of the UN Human Rights Office visited the President of the Republic of Liberia, HE, George Manneh Weah on May 3, 2019. On behalf of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Emelonye decorated the President with a pin of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and called on him to stand up for human rights.

President Weah underscored his personal resolve to stand up for human rights and his administration’s continued commitment to promote and protect human rights. He also pledged to collaborate with the UN Human Rights Office to strengthen the legal framework in Liberia, promote accountable and responsive institutions and build a vibrant civil society.
