Training to guarantee access to human rights

17 May 2018

As part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Ombudsman of the Province of Buenos Aires in Argentina, has launched a series of workshops on international human rights mechanisms.

The aim of the workshops is to train staff and public officials who assist the general public on how to use the international human rights mechanisms. Each session is taught by specialists linked to a particular area of human rights. For example, members of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo have taught one session. Participants come from the Ombudsman office as well as from staff from the 31 delegations scattered across the province of Buenos Aires via video conferencing.

The workshops will also help to strengthen the relationship between the Ombudsman office and international organizations working on human rights. The workshops continue through September 2018.

A series of videos have been developed to showcase this work. The videos are in Spanish.

You can read more about this initiative and see videos of previous workshops on the Ombudsman’s site. (Defensoría del Pueblo de la provincia de Buenos Aires)
