Sadiq Khan

Mayor of London

Sadiq Khan is the current Mayor of London and the first Muslim to hold the position. Born and raised in London, his parents came to the UK from Pakistan in the 1960s. He has been a human rights lawyer, defending people who were discriminated against. In his political career he was elected a Member of Parliament, and worked a variety of positions including Minister for Community Cohesion and Minister of Transport. He was elected Mayor of London in May 2016.
